Tillingbourne Foods Limited was formed in February 2000 by Robert Penfold and Michael Toussaint. Between them, they have over 40 years of experience in the meat industry and are both qualified butchers. From very humble beginnings the company has grown and will continue to do so by purchasing top quality products to meet clients’ high standards.
Directors’ Biographies:
Michael Toussaint:
Michael Toussaint had a connection with the food industry from a very early age. He started cutting meat at the age 11, in his family’s business. He became an apprentice butcher at the age of 16 and thereafter a qualified butcher. Michael then decided to gain experience in the UK on the international trading side, where he met Robert Penfold with whom he went on to establish Tillingbourne Foods.
Having been part of the meat industry both in France and the United Kingdom, right from first principles, Michael has been able to use all of his expertise to develop Tillingbourne Foods Limited into a very successful business.
Robert Penfold:
Robert Penfold started his career as an apprentice butcher. He trained and passed at the Institute of Meat in London and worked for a supermarket chain before selling meat at Kingston Market. Wanting to try his hand at import and export meat trading, Robert worked for various sized companies over the next few years before setting up Tillingbourne Foods Limited.
Having wide experience of the whole spectrum of the meat industry has enabled Robert to bring tried and tested business practices to Tillingbourne Foods Limited. It has also given him the confidence to develop his own ideas to benefit both suppliers and customers of Tillingbourne.
